Care & Management

It gives us pleasure to introduce this important handbook to you, the parents, on the Care and Management of Ysgol Theatr Maldwyn Members. We ought to emphasise at the outset that the majority of pupils behave very well and several favourable comments have been received by visitors and staff.

Ysgol Theatr Maldwyn staff have maintained a consistently high standard in terms of caring for young people. We seek to ensure that parents receive detailed information about the school's activities, health issues and visits. We put the welfare of the young people at the top of our list of priorities. We hope that the school is a welcoming place for young people and parents. We try to ensure that we are available to discuss any concerns that parents may have.

When disciplinary problems arise, we will always seek to include the parents whenever that is possible and practical. The school has a specific and clear policy on bullying and we encourage pupils to feel able to discuss any problems that arise - we are a school that listens.

As a performing arts school, we fully understand the importance of a partnership between staff and parents. By working together, we can promote and ensure a good standard of behaviour. During the coming weeks, we will be implementing a new policy, when all members of the present staff will be seeking a Criminal Records Bureau disclosure. This policy will also apply to new members of staff. As a number of parents have volunteered to help us at times, such as backstage during performances, we will be required to submit applications on behalf of those parents also, in the future.

We hope that you will receive this handbook as a positive step towards promoting the opportunities of all the members of Ysgol Theatr Maldwyn.
